Sammy Hagar recently commented on Alex Van Halen’s decision to overlook him in the context of Van Halen’s legacy.

The Red Rocker shared some photos from Rock Hall rehearsals, stating, “Cool x Kool & the Gang at Rock Hall rehearsals. (Scroll) Gettin’ ready to celebrate and induct some old friends and legends tonight.”

In the comments, a user pointed out, “Alex Van Halen doesn’t mention you once in his book,” to which Hagar replied, “So strange?”

Alex is promoting his memoir, ‘Brothers,’ and recently explained why he declined to join the Best of All Worlds tour, stating, “I’m not interested. They’re not doing the band justice. They can do what they want to do. That’s not my business.”

However, fans of Van Halen reacted strongly to Alex’s comments. The news was covered by various outlets, and many fans expressed their discontent. One user on X wrote, “WTF is his problem. Of course, they are. And fans love it. VH brothers were extremely difficult and Roth is absolutely impossible.”

Music journalist Dave Wight remarked, “Well maybe if you had participated, they could have done the band justice. Al seems to have a bug up his ass with Sammy.”

Another user added, “The more Alex opens his mouth, the less I like him. Sammy made him some serious money. Sammy could also sing in tune, write songs, and perform. Oh, and play well with others.”

Hagar had hoped Alex would join them on the Best of All Worlds tour, but the drummer did not respond. Sammy suggested, “I’m sure when he made his book deal, they said, ‘You cannot talk to Dave [Lee Roth, original Van Halen singer], and you cannot talk to Hagar,'” referring to Brothers.

He also mentioned, “Mike and I reached out to Alex before we did this. We reached out to him a dozen times before this tour, in every way. Email, text message, phone call, message on the machine, OK? No response. No response.”

Alex’s autobiography is set to be released on October 22, 2024.
