Slipknot recently issued and quickly deleted a statement confirming the departure of Sid Wilson, sharing the update on their Facebook.

The statement addressed the band’s decision to part ways with Wilson, coming ten days after TMZ reported that he had been fired.

“Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson,” the band said. “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

This development follows a previous report from TMZ stating that Wilson was notified of his permanent removal from the band, though the reasons behind the decision remain unclear.

The brief statement and its swift removal have left fans seeking more context about Wilson’s long tenure with the group and the circumstances surrounding his exit.

Wilson joined Slipknot in 1998 and became known as #0, serving as the band’s turntablist and keyboardist during its classic-era rise. Slipknot formed in 1995 and later expanded into the nine-member lineup that became central to its image, with each member adopting a number and mask as part of the band’s identity.

ATMZ report in early August said Wilson’s dismissal may have been tied to the way he treated bandmates, though that claim has not been independently confirmed by Slipknot or Wilson.

Guitarist Jim Root reacted to the reports by warning fans not to “believe everything you read,” while also adding to the uncertainty around the reported firing.

Wilson was seen in public shortly after the firing report, but neither he nor the band had issued a detailed explanation for the split.
