Stacy Thomson, the wife of Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson, recently confirmed that the band’s atmosphere is “finally happy and positive” following the firing of DJ Sid Wilson, sharing the update in a post on Instagram.
She shared her thoughts on being present with the band in Southern California during the recording sessions for their upcoming album.
“I actually love being here while Slipknot records the new album,” Stacy Thomson said. “But I’m definitely missing the Midwest autumn season.”
During the interaction, a Slipknot fan asked in the comments section, “Hi, Stacy. Give us some spoilers.”
In response to the fan’s request for spoilers, Thomson shared details about the positive shift in the band’s overall mood and her husband’s excitement.
“All I can say is that the vibe with everyone is finally so happy and positive,” Thomson replied. “And Mick always has a smile on his face when he talks about his guitar tones and recording sessions.”
This update comes after the recent departure of Sid Wilson, signaling a more harmonious recording environment for the band. The change in lineup has been one of the most discussed topics among Slipknot fans this year, and Thomson’s comments offer a rare inside look at how the group has moved forward in the studio.
The departure was formally announced after weeks of reports that Wilson had been removed from the group. Slipknot shared a statement on August 14, 2026 that read, “Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson.”
The statement also included a brief farewell. “We wish him the best in his future endeavors,” Slipknot added, confirming the end of Wilson’s nearly three-decade run with the band without explaining the reason behind the split.
The decision followed concerns about Wilson’s behavior toward his bandmates, though the band has not publicly confirmed that explanation. Wilson has since addressed his exit on his own social media, where he changed his Instagram bio to read “1997-2026” instead of “gang since 1997.”
Wilson’s departure is the latest in a series of lineup changes for Slipknot. The band previously parted ways with drummer Jay Weinberg in 2023 before bringing in Brazilian drummer Eloy Casagrande, who joined the group ahead of its 2024 touring cycle.
