Quiet Riot has officially announced John Torra as the band’s new lead singer, replacing Jizzy Pearl. The 23-year-old Long Island vocalist stood out among more than 700 submissions following the band’s open call for singers. John sent his audition videos to management and also shared performances online, where they went viral and sparked an incredible response from fans.
The band’s manager, Regina Banali, Frankie Banali’s widow, said: “We saw your comments, tags, and messages urging us to bring him on board. But what earned John the gig was his undeniable talent. His videos were outstanding—but when he stepped into the room with us, he blew the doors off our songs. We all heard it: an authentic sound that brings our material to life the way it’s meant to be heard. He may be young, but he’s dedicated and professional. He brings a breath of fresh air that lifts us all, and we couldn’t be more excited about the future with him on lead vocals. Please join us in welcoming John Torra to QUIET RIOT!”
Stryper frontman Michael Sweet also reacted to the news, commenting: “I knew John Torra would be the guy. I had no inside information whatsoever when I called that one. How could they not go with a young guy, who’s passionate and talented and who sings the songs like they were meant to be sung. Just like the original, yet with a youthful spin. Congrats John. You deserve it. Stay humble, stay grateful and always stay respectful. If you do that, you’ll achieve more than you’ll imagine.”
Sweet’s reaction lands as Quiet Riot closes one of the more eventful chapters in a lineup history that stretches back five decades. The band has cycled through frontmen for years, and Torra’s arrival adds another name to a list that began with the group’s earliest days.
The original lineup featured guitarist Randy Rhoads, bassist Kelly Garni, vocalist Kevin DuBrow, and drummer Drew Forsyth. The band’s most commercially successful era came with DuBrow fronting the group alongside guitarist Carlos Cavazo, bassist Rudy Sarzo, and drummer Frankie Banali. DuBrow remained the band’s longest-standing vocalist until his death in 2007, and Quiet Riot has rotated through several singers since then while continuing to tour.
Jizzy Pearl had two separate tenures with Quiet Riot, first from 2013 to 2016 and again from 2019 until his latest exit in 2026. He played his final show with the band on September 18, 2026, and the group then returned to its search for a new frontman. Pearl’s departure was confirmed in a social media statement he posted in July 2026, in which he announced he had decided to leave the band.
Quiet Riot’s announcement confirmed that longtime friend Jason McMaster filled in on vocals for two shows before the new singer made his debut. The band framed Torra’s hiring as the next step in keeping its lineup moving after decades of changes.
Torra previously fronted the New Jersey metal band Fire ‘N Ice before catching Quiet Riot’s attention. His audition videos helped him stand out during the open call, and his online performances spread quickly among fans, which built momentum behind his name.
Torra described the opportunity by saying, “I’ve been waiting for this my whole life.”
