Since the news about Aerosmith’s retirement, people have started to share their thoughts about the bands that would retire next. In a new post Stryper’s Michael Sweet recently made on his social media accounts, Sweet named the bands he thinks will retire in ten years. The interesting part is, that he named his own band too:

“Here’s an interesting thought: In 10-20 years, these bands (the real versions, not tribute versions with no original members) will most definitely be retired: Judas Priest, Scorpions, Styx, Night Ranger, Loverboy, Stryper, REO Speedwagon, Boston, Rolling Stones, Cheap Trick, Accept, Tesla, Europe, Iron Maiden, Petra, Motley Crue, Winger, Y&T, Def Leppard, Heart, Metallica, U2, Journey, Pantera, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi, Dream Theater, Ratt.”

Sweet added:

“At that point and time an entire genre will be gone. From a live perspective anyway. There are no bands (and most likely no bands to come) to fill the shoes of these classic, legendary bands who built this amazing genre of music. Poof. Gone. Sad…”

Sweet’s Thoughts On Aerosmith’s Retirement

On August 2, Aerosmith shared a statement on their social media accounts that Steven Tyler’s voice hasn’t fully recovered, and that they had to make the ‘heartbreaking’ choice to stop performing.

In another post on his social media accounts, Sweet addressed the band’s decision and praised them for it:

“So sad to see that Aerosmith won’t be touring any longer. Touring is very hard, even if you’re young. As you get older it becomes more and more difficult, especially for singers. I want to wish Steven Tyler and the band Aerosmith well and as hard as it must be, you have nothing more to prove. You’ve changed the course of music indefinitely and eternally. Well done guys. May God bless the band, their families, friends and fans worldwide.”

Is Stryper Retiring?

Though the rocker himself named Stryper in the list of soon-to-retire bands, it doesn’t look like they will be doing so in the next year or so.

Last month, Stryper released a new single titled ‘End Of Days,’ and announced a 40th anniversary tour. The tour starts on September 11 in Greenville, Tennessee, and wraps up on November 16 in North Myrtle Beach.
