Trent Reznor addressed recent speculation about Nine Inch Nails’ future during the band’s final show of their current tour at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA. According to a fan-recorded video, the frontman clarified that while the band has no shows currently booked, they are not intentionally disbanding.
“What I said was, this is the last show of this tour, and we don’t have any shows booked, and we don’t have any plans to book any shows any time in the future so far,” Reznor explained. “That doesn’t mean we may not tour again. We may tour again. It won’t be next month, it won’t be this year.”
Reznor emphasized that the band’s hiatus before this tour was driven by uncertainty about their relevance and ability to deliver quality performances. “I didn’t know if we could do it well, if it still mattered, and if really [felt] like we had something to say,” he said. “The combination of this band, this crew, and a lot of hard work, we put on a show that I’m really f*cking proud of.”
Looking ahead, Reznor confirmed the band’s plans to focus on creative work. “What we’re going to do is work on some new music, and make some new shit. If we feel inspired, and if we feel we can beat this [tour], we’ll see you again,” he stated.
The clarification comes as Nine Inch Nails wraps up their Peel It Back World Tour. This tour has reinvigorated the band’s connection with fans and demonstrated their continued relevance in the music industry. With new music on the horizon, the band’s future direction hinges on whether they can channel this momentum into material that matches the energy of their recent performances.
Nine Inch Nails fans may have to wait considerably longer for new releases and tour announcements. No specific release dates for new music or full tours in 2026 beyond upcoming festival appearances have been detailed in recent announcements, according to Brooklyn Vegan.
While the band has no traditional tour dates scheduled, Nine Inch Nails will not be entirely absent from the live music scene. The band has upcoming Coachella festival appearances next month in April 2026 as “Nine Inch Noize,” a collaborative project with Boys Noize, who served as the tour opener for the Peel It Back tour, according to Metal Injection.
