Will Ramos, the powerhouse vocalist of Lorna Shore, recently shared an emotional look into his journey through the music industry and the doubts that nearly ended his career. Speaking with Louder Sound, Ramos revealed that before joining the band, he had reached a breaking point and was ready to walk away from music altogether.

Years of struggling in the underground scene had left him questioning his future and whether his dreams were worth the sacrifice. “I had been in the music world for a little bit at this point, and for me I was getting to the end,” Ramos said. “I was like, dude, honestly, if this doesn’t work out, I’m going to do something else. I didn’t have full confidence [in myself]: I wanted to do something like this, but I just didn’t think I had it in me.”

Ramos admitted that exhaustion from years of chasing success had led him to consider a more traditional career path. “I was just tired from doing a bunch of music stuff over the years,” he continued. “Around this time, I was like, ‘I need to start thinking about real jobs.’ It was fun when I was young, but unfortunately for many people in the music world, that’s just what it ends up becoming: it’s fun when you’re young, but then you get older and you have to start doing real stuff.”

Before joining Lorna Shore, Ramos had spent years grinding in the metal underground, performing with bands like Secrets Don’t Sleep, Flawed Saviour, A Wake in Providence, and Monument of a Memory. According to Wikipedia, these early experiences gave him the chance to hone his craft, developing a distinct vocal range through self-teaching and relentless experimentation. Inspired by other deathcore frontmen, Ramos became known for pushing the boundaries of extreme vocal performance without any formal training.

His skill and versatility soon caught the attention of Lorna Shore. In March 2020, he joined the band as a temporary touring vocalist, stepping in for CJ McCreery. As reported by The Metal Verse, his first run with the group took place during their European tour, which was abruptly cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the setback, the band was struck by his onstage energy and presence. They invited him to record a three-song EP, …And I Return to Nothingness, to see how well they meshed creatively.

Released in 2021, the EP featured the breakout track “To the Hellfire,” which became a viral sensation thanks to Ramos’s jaw-dropping vocal performance—especially his now-iconic pig squeals. According to New Noise Magazine, the song quickly climbed Spotify’s Viral Charts and earned critical praise from major outlets, signaling a new era for both Ramos and the band. The overwhelming response cemented his place as Lorna Shore’s permanent frontman, helping to redefine their sound with a fusion of symphonic, blackened, and deathcore elements.

In 2022, Lorna Shore followed up with Pain Remains, their first full-length album featuring Ramos. The record received widespread acclaim and solidified the band’s status as leaders of modern deathcore. What nearly became the end of Ramos’s career instead transformed into the start of a defining chapter—one fueled by perseverance, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to his craft.
