Former Mötley Crüe frontman John Corabi has accused The Dead Daisies of intentionally sabotaging his solo album launch. The band’s management allegedly misled him about their plans.
Corabi and bassist Michael Devin were caught off guard when the band released a live album just one week after his solo record. In an interview, Corabi revealed the details of the miscommunication.
“I told The Dead Daisies management I got this record deal,” Corabi explained. “I told them, ‘Hey, I signed a deal with Frontiers. I’m gonna do a solo album.’ They were, like, ‘Okay, cool.’ Later, the manager said, ‘You know what? Actually, we’re gonna take a year off. David’s gonna go hang with his dad. So knock yourself out. You got a whole year to finish your record and go promote it.'”
Corabi expressed confusion about the band’s sudden activity after being assured they would be inactive. “Then we’re on tour, and all of a sudden they’re doing a show with Glenn Hughes,” he said. “They released the record one week after mine, and I’m, like, ‘I don’t even know what’s going on right now.’ Michael and I are, like, ‘Are we still employed by The Daisies or…?’ I don’t even know what’s going on.”
Despite the frustration, Corabi stated he remains focused on his solo work. He expressed pride in his new album and said he is very happy with what he is doing.
