The band shared their excitement in an official statement: “Hello Everyone, You have all been asking for it, so we are excited to announce our new album, Marrow Deep, will be released August 28th, 2026 and we are kicking it off with a new video for our new song ‘Snakes For Dinner,’ which features an appearance from our long time friend, Josh Homme. It’s been quite the journey making this album, and we are very happy with how it came out, we can not wait for you to hear the whole thing!”

Fans are encouraged to pre-order the album and watch the new music video. Mastodon plans to launch the album with a tour and will keep supporters updated with additional content and announcements. The band concluded: “As always, thank you for being part of our world. We look forward to seeing you all on the Poisonous Weapons Tour and beyond!”

Marrow Deep represents the progressive sludge metal pioneers’ first studio album in five years. This release marks a significant milestone in their career and demonstrates their continued commitment to their craft after an extended creative period. The collaboration with Josh Homme on ‘Snakes For Dinner’ underscores Mastodon’s ability to attract high-profile guest artists and expand their sonic palette within the metal community.

Prior to the full album announcement, the band had already begun rolling out material from the record. They previously released the single ‘Your Ghost Again’ to build anticipation among their fanbase. This strategic rollout reflects a deliberate approach to album promotion, utilizing multiple singles and visual content to engage their audience in the months leading up to the August release.

Josh Homme’s appearance on the lead single carries particular significance. His involvement signals the album’s potential to bridge audiences across different segments of the rock and metal landscape. The Queens of the Stone Age frontman’s distinctive guitar work and vocal presence have made him a sought-after collaborator, and his participation in ‘Snakes For Dinner’ suggests the track may serve as a centerpiece of the album’s commercial and critical appeal.

Mastodon’s announcement of the accompanying tour demonstrates the band’s readiness to support the new material with extensive live performances. This represents a crucial component of their career strategy. The progressive sludge metal group has built a dedicated international fanbase over their decades-long career. The combination of new studio material and touring plans positions them to capitalize on renewed interest in their work. With the August 28th release date now confirmed and the first single already generating momentum, the stage is set for what promises to be a significant chapter in Mastodon’s storied discography.
