Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx recently shared a complete list of surgeries he has undergone after decades of heavy touring, posting an update on Facebook.
In his post, the bassist detailed how the touring life has taken a toll on his body over the years and explained how he manages to keep performing.
“As they say, the road eventually catches up with you,” Sixx said. “I love rock ‘n’ roll, but yeah—it’s hard on the body, especially as I get older and after doing this shit for a long-ass time. I’ve definitely been in better condition, but the good news is my stamina is still on point.”
He then listed the various medical procedures he has had over his career.
“Here’s my running list of repairs, courtesy of 45 years of Mötley Crüe: Left knee meniscus surgery. Left hip replacement. Left shoulder rotator cuff surgery. Right shoulder trapezius transfer. Lower back fused two years ago,” he continued. “Basically, I’m part human, part spare parts at this point.”
Sixx also explained what helps him stay active and continue touring despite the physical challenges.
“The only thing that keeps me out there touring through the pain is staying consistent with light weights, stretching, and cardio,” he added. “The road takes its toll—but I wouldn’t trade the adventure. Still standing. Still playing. Still loud.”
This update comes as Mötley Crüe continues its 2026 touring schedule. Sixx’s comments also place his current health struggles within the much longer history of the band and his career.
Sixx nearly died after a heroin overdose in 1987. The incident became a major turning point for the bassist and the band as they confronted their drug and alcohol use.
Mötley Crüe’s latest tour plans reflect the group’s continued activity decades after its formation. According to the band’s official website, the 2026 North American tour celebrates the 20th anniversary of Carnival of Sins and the band’s 45th anniversary.
The group’s history began in Los Angeles in 1981. Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee began rehearsing together on Jan. 17, 1981, before the lineup that would define Mötley Crüe’s early career came together.
