Accept guitarist Wolf Hoffmann recently revealed that several former members, including original singer Udo Dirkschneider, were invited to participate in the band’s 50th-anniversary album, Teutonic Titans 1976–2026, but declined the offer. Hoffmann shared these details during an appearance on The David Ellefson Show.
The guitarist explained that the invitation was intended as a friendly gesture and a way to reconnect with past members, though none of them accepted.
“We invited every one of the old members, of the original members, to be part of this,” Hoffmann said. “But as it happens, nobody wanted to have anything to do with it, which is quite sad, I believe, because it would’ve been a great way to reconnect or something, or even as a friendly gesture.”
Hoffmann went on to express his disappointment regarding how former bandmates often cut off communication entirely after leaving the group.
“But no, it wasn’t [to be],” he continued. “And to me, that is still a sad and weird phenomenon that… You probably know this. As soon as somebody leaves the band, you never see them again. They don’t answer your e-mails. Usually, whatever, when they’re out, they’re out. And it’s really unfortunate.”
He concluded by noting that he wished relationships could remain amicable despite past disagreements or departures.
“I wish it wasn’t that way, just because whatever disagreements or whatever change of minds happened to the departure, we could still be friends and talk and stay in touch,” Hoffmann added. “But it’s not that way.”

The reunion offer was tied to a project that has been years in the making, and its scale helps explain why Hoffmann viewed the refusals as such a missed opportunity.
Teutonic Titans 1976–2026 was released on September 4, 2026, as a landmark anniversary project celebrating five decades of the German heavy metal pioneers. The record spans 19 reimagined versions of the band’s most iconic songs, running just over an hour in total.
The album pairs those 19 tracks with 50 guest musicians, a deliberate nod to the band’s 50 years of activity. The guest list reads like a cross-section of metal and hard rock history.
Among the contributors are Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, Ghost’s Tobias Forge, The Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan, and Pantera’s Phil Anselmo. Wolf Hoffmann led the project himself, serving as the album’s driving force.
That roster makes the absence of Accept’s own alumni all the more notable. While dozens of outside artists signed on to honor the band’s catalog, the former members who helped build it chose to stay away entirely.
Hoffmann confirmed that multiple former Accept members, Udo Dirkschneider among them, were offered the chance to contribute but none agreed to take part. The album nevertheless arrived on schedule and performed strongly, debuting at No. 3 on the German album charts.
