Rolling Stone reports that the band’s mix of reggae, punk rock, ska, and hip hop helped them carve out a distinct niche in the music world. They gained early recognition with their self-titled debut album, but it was their 1996 album ‘Sublime’ that propelled them to stardom. Tracks like ‘What I Got,’ ‘Santeria,’ and ‘Wrong Way’ became iconic hits, capturing the essence of California’s laid-back beach culture while also addressing deep personal struggles, including addiction, heartbreak, and social issues.
