Actor Evan Rachel Wood has provided new insights into her allegations against Marilyn Manson, revealing that the musician deliberately studied cult manipulation tactics and mind control techniques. Wood discovered extensive research materials in Manson’s library focused on cults, mind control, and manipulation strategies. She emphasized that Manson was “very, very well-versed” in these tactics and applied them systematically within his inner circle.

She said, “If you take a wander in his library … he had a lot of books on cults and a lot of books on mind control and manipulation. He also studied cults and things like that as well. Cults have different names and different styles but ultimately they’re the same tactics. I think he was very, very well-versed in these tactics.”

She also claimed Manson frequently warned people against speaking out about him. “He also made it very clear that he would retaliate against anybody that went against him or, in his words ‘betrayed’ him in any way. And a betrayal would be to expose him. I think he was also very well-versed on what to do if that ever happened and how he would retaliate.”

When asked whether she believed Manson was a psychopathic narcissist, Wood replied, “I think so, yeah. I think there was a time when I wanted to believe that there were maybe still good times and that we had just had a few bad times. But the more I started to read the stories that were popping up online, the more people that contacted me and told me their stories, there was just no way to think otherwise.”

Since coming forward in 2021, Wood has described being groomed as a teenager and subjected to horrific abuse and brainwashing throughout their relationship. Her documentary “Phoenix Rising” provided detailed accounts of the psychological and physical abuse she endured during their time together from 2006 to 2010. Wood’s willingness to speak publicly has encouraged other women to come forward with similar allegations, with at least fourteen additional women filing complaints against Manson.

Manson’s control mechanisms operated on multiple levels within his environment. His circle functioned like a cult, with strict regulations governing basic aspects of daily life. Manson dictated when Wood slept, what she wore, and when she ate, creating a comprehensive system of dominance. His assistants were tasked with following her movements and photographing her activities, ensuring constant surveillance and reporting back to him. This infrastructure of monitoring and control created an environment designed to eliminate autonomy and enforce submission.

Manson has consistently denied all allegations, characterizing them as “distortions of reality” and maintaining that all his relationships were entirely consensual. In 2022, he filed a defamation lawsuit against Wood. A California judge dismissed multiple claims in 2023, ultimately leading Manson to rescind the lawsuit entirely. Despite the legal outcome, Wood continues to experience ongoing intimidation, reporting that she is followed by cars and subjected to phishing attempts on her computer years after making her allegations public.

The broader pattern of allegations against Manson reveals a systematic approach to abuse that extended beyond Wood. Other women have come forward with accounts of sexual assault, harassment, and emotional distress. An ex-assistant filed a lawsuit detailing incidents where Manson allegedly threw a prop at Wood with such force that it caused significant bruising. These converging accounts corroborate Wood’s descriptions of physical violence within his household and suggest a deliberate methodology rather than isolated incidents.
