Jansen spoke about the emotional weight of leaving the band after more than a decade and acknowledged the concerns of fans following the split. She outlined her next steps, which include new music and live dates.

“After the news that I parted ways with Nightwish, I got so many wonderful reactions wishing both me and Nightwish the best,” Jansen said. “Of course, you’re worried. Of course, you’re sad. So am I.”

“So together we make this jump into this new era, this new start with, in my case, a new album coming early January 2027, and a whole tour. More to come.”

Jansen closed her message by expressing gratitude for her time with Nightwish. “So thank you for the 14 years in Nightwish and for this lovely, lovely, warm bath to start a new beginning. Cheers.”

The video message comes after Jansen’s split from Nightwish, marking the end of a significant chapter in her career with the Finnish symphonic metal band. Her solo album is set to arrive in early 2027.

Jansen joined Nightwish as a touring member in 2012 following the departure of Anette Olzon, and was announced as the band’s full-time lead vocalist in 2013. During her time with the band, she appeared on three studio albums: Endless Forms Most Beautiful (2015), Human :II: Nature (2020), and Yesterwynde (2024).

In April 2023, Nightwish announced they would take a touring break after releasing their next studio album. The band played their final show on June 17, 2023, and did not tour in support of Yesterwynde. In August 2026, Jansen told Sonic Seducer that there was no activity scheduled and no communication about when things would resume.

Jansen released her debut solo single “Fire” in March 2022, followed by her first solo album Paragon in March 2023, which reached number two on the Dutch charts. Her second solo album, Hytress, is due on January 15, 2027, with shows across Europe and South America also lined up.

Nightwish will enter the studio in 2027 to record a new album. The band has not announced a replacement vocalist or provided further details about the reasons behind the split with Jansen.
