John Bush reunited with most of his former Anthrax bandmates at Iron Maiden’s BMO Stadium show in Los Angeles, where they watched the performance together from a private box, he said in an interview with We Go To 11.
Bush saw Scott Ian, Frankie Bello, Charlie Benante and Jon Donais during the show. He did not see Joey Belladonna, the current Anthrax singer, though he saw Belladonna’s wife.
“I did [had a chance to say hello to the guys in Anthrax], actually,” Bush said. “They were nice enough to say come into their… Well, they had like a box — kind of like a box at BMO Stadium. So, Pearl, Scott’s [Ian, Anthrax guitarist] wife, she was nice enough to kind of come rescue us and bring us down there, which was great.”
“And so we hung out, actually watched the whole show with Maiden and [other support act] Megadeth, and just hung out with Scott and Frankie [Bello, Anthrax bassist], and I saw Charlie [Benante, Anthrax drummer] as well,” he continued. “And I didn’t really see Joey [Belladonna, current Anthrax singer], but we saw Joey’s wife. And it was a lot of fun.”
Bush also praised the Iron Maiden performance. “I saw Jon [Donais], the [Anthrax] guitar player, and, yeah, it was cool. It was cool to watch from that perspective. It was, like, down on the field. The view was perfect, and Maiden was off the charts. [Maiden singer] Bruce Dickinson, he’s insane. He’s so good. So it was a lot of fun.”
The reunion took place during Iron Maiden’s Los Angeles show, where the former Anthrax members were able to spend time together in a private setting and enjoy the performance.
Bush was the lead singer of Anthrax from 1992 to 2005 and returned briefly in 2009 and 2010. His first album with the band, Sound of White Noise from 1993, became a critical success and earned an RIAA Gold Record Award. When Anthrax reunited its classic lineup in early 2005, Bush declined to tour with them, saying it was not the right fit for him at that time.
Joey Belladonna returned to the band in 2010 and has remained the lead singer since then. The band’s first album with Belladonna in eight years, Worship Music, was released in 2011 and reached number twelve on the Billboard 200. Belladonna continues as the current frontman of Anthrax.
In September 2026, Anthrax opened for Iron Maiden at the BMO Stadium shows in Los Angeles, with Megadeth also on the bill. The performance gave Bush and his former bandmates the chance to reconnect during the show.
