Geddy Lee recently spoke about Rush’s upcoming “Fifty Something” reunion tour, revealing insights into the band’s ambitious setlist plans in a statement shared with Rolling Stone.
Lee explained that the band is preparing a massive catalog of songs to ensure each performance feels fresh, even across multiple nights in the same city. The setlist will include more than 38 songs, with different selections rotated throughout the tour. “I don’t really want to give our setlist away because we are learning at the moment our set list contains over 38 songs, because we plan on changing the set every night,” Lee said. “There will be a large percentage of songs that we will switch between nights.”
Lee emphasized that fans attending multiple shows can expect variety and surprises. While core favorites will remain, each night will feature unique arrangements.
“So if you come to say four shows in Toronto, you’re going to hear four different sets. That’s going to include a lot of songs, obviously. They are obviously the big favorites that you sort of have to have in the set list every night. But we really want to keep the set fresh. And right now, I’m working on five different sets for the shows. So we’re going to move things around quite a bit and have a lot of fun, and hopefully that’ll keep Alex and I fresh.”
This strategy reflects Rush’s dedication to maintaining high energy and engagement throughout the tour, offering fans a dynamic concert experience that evolves night to night.
The “Fifty Something” reunion tour marks Rush’s first major return to the road in over a decade, celebrating more than 50 years of the legendary progressive rock band’s history. According to the band’s official website, the tour is set to begin on June 7, 2026, at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Due to overwhelming demand, additional North American dates have been added, including stops in Toronto, Montreal, New York, and Vancouver.
The reunion lineup features Geddy Lee on vocals, bass, and keyboards, alongside guitarist Alex Lifeson. CityNews Kitchener reported that drummer Anika Nilles will join the band, stepping into the role once held by the late Neil Peart, who passed away in 2020. This marks a significant new chapter for Rush as they return to the stage while honoring Peart’s enduring legacy.
In keeping with Rush’s tradition of expansive, career-spanning performances, the band will perform two sets each night, as noted by Ultimate Classic Rock. This format allows them to explore their vast catalog and fully implement the rotating setlist concept described by Lee, ensuring that no two shows are the same.
With the “Fifty Something” theme at its core, the tour celebrates Rush’s timeless influence while introducing their music to new generations. Blending classic material, tributes to Neil Peart, and an ever-changing setlist, the tour promises an unforgettable experience for fans old and new.
