Dee Snider Explains The Real Reason He Retired From Twisted Sister

During a recent appearance on New York’s Q104.3, Dee Snider revealed the actual reason for his retirement from Twisted Sister in 2016 after playing his last concert in Monterrey.

When the conversation came to his muscular and fit physique, the frontman said:

“As I said to my manager, stop telling people that I’ve got a six-pack. Because when I retired from Twisted Sister, I announced to the audience and I said, ‘Listen, why am I retiring? I want a pancake. I want a muffin. Carbs. I want a carb!’ I’ve been shredded. I’m 62 years old. I’m done being shredded. So, no, I couldn’t do a nude.”

Throughout his career with the band, Snider has been careful about maintaining his fitness while performing on stage. When asked about how he kept that in an interview in the early 2010s, he replied, disclosing his workout regimen:

“It’s not what you do; it’s how consistently you do it! I have been training consistently for decades. You don’t have to do a lot; you just have to commit to it, and that goes with eating wise too. I’m not like ‘I don’t eat anything’ kind of guy; you just stay away from the fried foods or the cheesy things or fettuccine Alfredo stuff. It’s the cumulative effect over the years.”

He further detailed his secret to staying feet:

“So, if you’re looking for the miracle of being fit in your fifties, it’s not going to the gym four hours a day, five days a week. It’s putting that thirty minutes to forty-five minutes a day, four days a week…. Always! You’ve seen me perform and… I rock! I can’t believe it myself! When it comes down to it, I always adhered to a certain lifestyle and certain fitness regimen. Again, nothing fanatical, just always consistent!”

After his retirement, Snider reunited with his Twisted Sister bandmates at the Metal Hall of Fame charity gala in January 2023, marking the band’s first performance together since 2016.
