The Black Dahlia Murder’s frontman Trevor Strnad passed away on May 11, 2022. According to The Guardian, no official cause was disclosed. Here’s what happened to the band after Strnad’s passing.

The Black Dahlia Murder chose to continue their musical journey after the tragedy, as reported by Brooklyn Vegan. The band went under lineup changes, though. Co-founding guitarist Brian Eschbach stepped up to take over lead vocals. Former guitarist Ryan Knight rejoined the band.

The reformed lineup released their album ‘Servitude’ in 2024. New challenges soon emerged. Guitarist Brandon Ellis, who joined in 2016, recently announced his departure. Vocalist Brian Eschbach postponed Latin American tour dates due to health concerns.

TBDM’s official website explains the decision to continue results from strong bonds formed during touring. Trevor Strnad and Brian Eschbach personally selected these musicians who joined the lineup.

The band remains committed to honoring Strnad’s legacy while moving forward. Chaos Zine reports the postponed Latin American tour has been rescheduled for December 2025. Gatecreeper will join the band as special guests.

The Black Dahlia Murder continues to push forward despite these setbacks. Their official Facebook page announced a performance at the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville, Kentucky, on September 18, 2025. They haven’t announced a replacement for Brandon Ellis yet.

Bloodstock Festival confirms The Black Dahlia Murder will perform on August 10, 2025. This performance marks their return to one of Europe’s premier metal festivals.
