After nearly seven days of attempting to manage the condition, the pain became unbearable. He made the difficult decision to undergo emergency surgery.
Michaels’ medical team performed immediate surgery to remove the kidney stone and placed a ureteral stent as part of the procedure. The stent will need to be removed during a follow-up appointment as part of his recovery process. His medical team has advised him to take three to four weeks off from performing while the stent remains in place, given his Type 1 diabetes and other health considerations.
