Triumph guitarist Rik Emmett has issued a statement celebrating the conclusion of the band’s 2026 reunion tour. He expressed deep gratitude toward Derek Sharp for temporarily replacing Phil X on guitar after Phil X had to miss several shows due to Bon Jovi rehearsal conflicts.

“Giant kudos to Derek Sharp for stepping into Phil X’s shoes and making the gig his own,” Emmett said. “We were blessed with tremendous professional talent and experience on every level of band, crew and management. It was a joyful tour!”

Phil X acknowledged his absence from the Moncton and Halifax shows with grace and appreciation for Sharp’s contribution. “I’d like to apologize to all the fans, the Triumph fans, that were at the Moncton and Halifax shows this week that I couldn’t be at,” Phil X said. “You know, stuff happens. Life happens. And I just couldn’t make it happen. So I truly apologize.”

Phil X continued by praising Derek Sharp’s performance. “I’d like to secondly thank Derek Sharp for filling in, who did a great job. We got to hang out a little bit before. He’s an amazing dude. He’s a great musician. And it was just great that he could step in and do it.”

The 2026 reunion marked a significant milestone for the Canadian rock legends. Triumph has a storied history of bringing their classic arena rock sound back to audiences. The long-awaited return to touring has been described as an absolute blast on stage. The band delivered the energy and musicianship that defined their legacy.

Triumph’s 50th Anniversary Tour has drawn strong crowds and emotional reactions from fans across multiple U.S. dates. Shows have generated the kind of enthusiasm that underscores the enduring appeal of the band’s catalog.

The band’s ability to adapt and overcome scheduling challenges speaks to the professionalism that has always characterized Triumph’s approach to their craft. When unexpected conflicts arose, the organization demonstrated flexibility and resourcefulness that kept the major tour running smoothly. Derek Sharp’s willingness to step in on short notice and deliver performances that met the high standards expected of a Triumph show proved instrumental in maintaining the tour’s momentum. Fans received the full experience they had anticipated.

This reunion tour represents more than just a nostalgic return for the band members. It reflects the deep connection Triumph has maintained with its fanbase over the decades, even during periods when the band was not actively touring. The 2026 shows have reinforced that the chemistry between the original members remains intact. Their commitment to delivering quality performances continues undiminished. The tour’s success demonstrates that classic rock acts with genuine artistry and musicianship can still command significant audience interest and create meaningful live experiences.

The conclusion of this leg of the reunion tour leaves fans anticipating what comes next for Triumph. The band has proven that they can still deliver compelling performances and navigate the complexities of modern touring. The foundation has been laid for continued success. The gratitude expressed by both Emmett and Phil X toward Derek Sharp highlights the collaborative spirit that exists within the band’s extended circle. This suggests that future opportunities for the band to perform together remain promising.
