Bon Jovi guitarist Phil X has expressed optimism about the potential for expanded opportunities with classic rock band Triumph following their recent reunion tour performances. When asked about the possibility of more shows in the near future, Phil X indicated that the decision rests with the band’s original members while emphasizing the renewed energy surrounding the project.

“It’s up to them,” Phil X said. “Gil Moore might be 72, but he’s like a kid in a candy store. This could be the beginning of something. We’ll see.” His comments reflect the enthusiasm that has characterized the reunion, with drummer and vocalist Gil Moore displaying particular excitement about the project’s prospects.

The guitarist highlighted the collaborative spirit that has emerged during reunion preparations. Rik Emmett, Triumph’s singer and guitarist, appears energized by Phil X’s involvement. This represents a significant shift given that Emmett had previously stated he would never tour with Triumph again. “He’s gung-ho. It’s really cool talking to him,” Phil X noted. “Some of our text threads are like, ‘What is he saying?!’ [Laughs] It’s all coming from enthusiasm, which is amazing. They’re already working on the set, telling me, ‘This is what we’re going to do,’ and ‘This is where Phil and I will do this and that,’ and ‘Here, we’re going to work on a harmony spot.’ It’s crazy-awesome.”

The reunion represents a historic moment for the Canadian rock band, marking their first extensive tour in over three decades. Phil X’s involvement adds a fresh dynamic to the classic power trio format that defined Triumph’s original sound. The expanded lineup for the 2026 Rock & Roll Machine Reloaded tour also includes bassist Todd Kerns and drummer Brent Fitz from Slash’s band. This creates a six-piece ensemble that brings additional musical depth to the performances.

Phil X was a member of Triumph during the 1990s before establishing himself as a prominent figure in rock music. He currently serves as lead guitarist for Bon Jovi, demonstrating his standing in the industry. He has managed to balance both commitments for the reunion tour, though scheduling demands have required careful coordination between his Bon Jovi obligations and Triumph’s extensive tour schedule.

The band’s decision to expand beyond their classic three-member format reflects a pragmatic approach to delivering a world-class production while honoring their legacy. Original bassist Mike Levine, now 76 years old, will participate virtually rather than performing live. This arrangement allows the band to maintain continuity while adapting to the realities of touring at an advanced age. All original members remain part of the reunion experience while enabling the band to deliver the energetic performances fans expect.

The enthusiasm expressed by all parties involved suggests that Triumph’s reunion could extend beyond the initially announced dates. This could potentially open doors for new studio material as well. The collaborative energy evident in the band’s preparation and the genuine excitement from both the original members and supporting musicians indicate that this reunion may represent more than a nostalgic one-time event. It could mark the beginning of a renewed chapter for the legendary rock band.
