Throughout the years, Our Last Night has been known for covering popular pop and rock songs with their own styles. As the band continued to release more covers, most of them turned into hits. Though their original songs are just as good, here are 7 rock covers of pop hits that are worth giving a listen to.

7. ‘Hot Girl Bummer’ – Blackbear

The rock version of the original song is a must to check out, even if you are not a massive fan of Blackbear. The cover gets heavier through the second verse, giving the cover the redefining sound. The changing heavier and softer parts of the song create a combination of a pop-rock track that is worth checking out.

6. ‘Habits (Stay High)’ – Tove Lo

Consisting of both clean and scream vocals, the cover offers more of an instrumentally heavy interpretation. If you love the original track, you’ll love the singer and guitarist Matt Wentworth’s exceptional job of altering songs to fit his voice and, in turn, Trevor Wentworth’s voice as well.

5. ‘Skyfall’ – Adele

Known for her emotional songs, Adele’s ‘Skyfall’ is another jam to give a listen. Just like its original version, Our Last Night’s version offers a heavy start and the same emotional bridge with Wentworth’s vocals and instrumentals. Marking the beginning of their covering career with ‘Skyfall,’ the band succeeded in conveying the emotions of the song and sharing their own sound at the same time with this ten-year-old cover. With its building-up instrumentals, the track is a must-listen.

4. ‘Wrecking Ball’ – Miley Cyrus

One of the most popular of all. Introducing a calm atmosphere similar to the original track, the song opens with an acoustic guitar and carries on with the same atmosphere, as opposed to an expected heavy sound. Of course, this shouldn’t discourage the listeners. Although it’s one of the least heavier covers the band has, it still has an emotional and powerful sound to it.

3. ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ – Taylor Swift

Probably the most liked one among the fans of the band. As opposed to their earlier covers, this cover opens up with heavy riffs followed by clean vocals. The song was completely cut off from its pop sound and was turned into a heavier and more aggressive sound, including the frontman’s screaming. Through the chorus, the song gets even heavier, making it a jam to introduce the band to newer fans.

2. ‘Astronaut In The Ocean’ – Masked Wolf

Starting with a heavy guitar riff, the song involves a mix of clean and scream vocals simultaneously. Being one of their newer covers, the band succeeded in conveying the energy in the bridge and pre-choruses.

1. ‘Unholy’ – Sam Smith, Kim Petras

The song builds up to the pre-chorus with building drums and. Although they belong in the different ends of music, the rockers made it possible to convert to song into a popular rock cover and did an awesome job making this their own by adding the classic Trevor Wentworth screams and singing perfectly.
