David Lee Roth recently took to Instagram to reveal his first solo show scheduled for 2026. The announcement, however, has sparked mixed reactions from fans who remain skeptical about his vocal abilities after his 2024 tour.
His post promoted the upcoming event titled “A Night With David Lee Roth at the BMO Pavilion, Milwaukee, WI.” Some supporters applauded his ongoing dedication to performing, with one fan writing, “He still tours for his fans. That says a lot about him. He loves his fans. God Bless Dave.”
Not all feedback was positive. Another fan voiced frustration, saying, “I can’t and I won’t, just my opinion. I’ve seen too many videos from this last tour. He can’t sing anymore, and he is just killing his legacy.”
A third fan, who has followed Roth for decades, echoed those sentiments after attending a recent show: “Saw him for the first time in 1988. Saw him this past summer, to check it off my list. The show is a little nostalgic, the singing out right horrendous, pitiful, and embarrassing.”
Fan concerns about Roth’s live vocals have persisted despite his continued announcements of new tour dates. Criticism regarding his singing has circulated for years, especially following his return to the stage.
After stepping away from performing for five years, Roth made a comeback in 2025, but according to Metal Wani, many Van Halen fans found his performance embarrassing. His appearance at the M3 Rock Festival drew widespread backlash centered on his vocal quality.
Health issues have also influenced Roth’s on-and-off touring schedule. The Los Angeles Times reported that he was slated for a Las Vegas residency in early 2022 but canceled the shows beforehand due to health-related reasons—pauses that preceded his more recent return to performing.
In addition to fan commentary, Roth has also faced criticism from a former bandmate. Metal Injection noted that Sammy Hagar has been openly critical, remarking that Roth’s voice “hasn’t aged well” and describing his performances as more about theatrics than genuine singing. Their long-running feud further highlights the broader debate surrounding Roth’s current vocal abilities.
Despite the scrutiny and ongoing questions about his voice, Roth continues to move forward with new performances, showing no signs of stepping back from the stage.
