Mötley Crüe bassist and founding member Nikki Sixx has revealed that the legendary rock band has no touring plans scheduled for 2027. This marks a significant pause in their touring schedule. During an interview while the band is currently on their “Return of the Carnival of Sins” tour, Sixx shared his perspective on the band’s future.

He said, “I love playing live but never have been a fan of being on the road for any real length of time. But I’m having a blast on this run. No tour plans in 2027 at this point and my family is with me now. So I’m living in the moment. It’s been great. Thank you.”

The band’s current “Return of the Carnival of Sins” tour represents a significant milestone. It marks the 20th anniversary of the original Carnival of Sins tour while simultaneously celebrating the band’s 45th anniversary as a group. The 2026 tour features 33 North American shows that began on July 17 in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. It is scheduled to conclude on September 26 in Ridgefield, Washington, spanning a two-month period across the continent.

Fresh off their successful 2025 Las Vegas residency, the classic lineup of lead singer Vince Neil, guitarist John 5, bassist Nikki Sixx, and drummer Tommy Lee have brought the thrills back to fans. The tour features a reimagined production and updated setlist. The tour kicked off with a 17-song set that included the band’s first performance of the Generation Swine track “Afraid” in 14 years. This demonstrates the band’s commitment to both classic hits and deeper cuts from their extensive catalog. The Return of the Carnival of Sins tour features all the classic hits alongside a reimagined stage show and the over-the-top energy that only Mötley Crüe can deliver. The tour is supported by fellow rock acts Tesla and Extreme.

The decision to take a break from touring in 2027 reflects Sixx’s long-standing philosophy about life on the road. Throughout his career, the bassist has been candid about his preference for stability and family time over the grueling demands of constant touring. By having his family accompany him on the current tour, Sixx has found a way to balance his passion for performing with his desire for personal connection and presence with loved ones. This approach has allowed him to enjoy the current tour run without the typical toll that extended road schedules can take on musicians and their families.

Looking ahead, the absence of 2027 touring plans suggests that Mötley Crüe may be taking a strategic approach to their career longevity and member well-being. The band’s decision to focus on their current tour and then step back provides an opportunity for the members to recharge. They can pursue other creative projects and spend quality time away from the demands of large-scale touring operations. This measured approach to touring schedules has become increasingly common among veteran rock bands seeking to maintain their legacy while preserving the health and happiness of their members.
