Former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar responded to a fan’s unusual request during a recent Instagram Q&A. When asked for a $1 million loan, he offered a humorous answer. A fan asked, “Can I borrow a million dollars?” Hagar quipped back: “Can you borrow a million dollars from me? Yes! If you can pay me back with 30% interest. Yeah. If you can pay me back, I’ll loan it to you.”

The lighthearted exchange showcases Hagar’s wit and personality. Fans have come to appreciate these qualities over his decades-long career in rock music. Beyond his comedic social media interactions, Hagar continues to remain active in the music industry with several major projects underway.

Sammy Hagar is set to launch a limited summer 2026 U.S. tour beginning June 13, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. Rock legend Rick Springfield will open all dates. This tour marks another significant chapter in Hagar’s ongoing commitment to performing the music that defined his career, particularly his work with Van Halen.

The touring lineup continues to feature Joe Satriani and Michael Anthony. The setlist emphasizes Van Halen songs that remain central to Hagar’s live performances. Van Halen News Desk reports that Hagar has also returned to Las Vegas residency performances in 2026 at Dolby Live at Park MGM. He continues “The Best of All Worlds” concept, which celebrates his most iconic material.

Hagar has discussed his creative evolution and the lasting impact of his time with Van Halen in recent interviews. He and Joe Satriani previously released the single “Encore, Thank You and Good Night.” The song was inspired by a dream Hagar had about Eddie Van Halen. Ultimate Classic Rock notes that the former frontman has indicated he remains open to writing more new songs and continuing to explore his musical legacy.

Hagar has consistently praised Eddie Van Halen’s influence on his songwriting and singing throughout his career. Guitar Player reports that Hagar still believes the Van Halen years were the artistic high point of his career. He continues to express this sentiment as he performs and creates new material. His dedication to honoring that era while moving forward creatively demonstrates his enduring passion for rock music and his fans.
