Accept guitarist Wolf Hoffmann recently confirmed that the band’s estranged original singer, Udo Dirkschneider, ignored an invitation to participate in their upcoming 50th anniversary album, Teutonic Titans 1976-2026. Hoffmann shared the update in an interview with Louder. He stated that the band reached out but received no response.

“We contacted him, and of course there was no response,” Hoffmann said.

He then described the relationship as effectively over. “The relationship is non-existent, and that’s a sad thing to me,” he said. “And it’s not just Udo. Whoever leaves the band usually is never heard from again. To me, that’s weird. Why can’t we be friends, or at least remain in touch? But I hear it from a lot of other bands. It has a lot to do with bruised egos.”

That split dates back to 1987. Dirkschneider left Accept at that time and went on to form U.D.O., which became his long-term home. The band U.D.O. was founded in 1987 following his exit from Accept. Dirkschneider has remained its frontman ever since.

The upcoming album Teutonic Titans 1976-2026 is being issued as a special 50th anniversary release. It features a large cast of guest musicians across reinterpretations of Accept songs. The guest appearances include K. K. Downing, Bobby Blitz, Hansi Kürsch, Chris Jericho, Ralf Scheepers, Billy Sheehan, Ola Englund, and Jeff Loomis.

The tracklist spans two CDs. It includes songs such as “Fast as a Shark,” “Metal Heart,” “Restless and Wild,” and “London Leatherboys,” with each track paired with different guest lineups. The release was announced in spring 2026. The album is positioned as a broad retrospective rather than a standard studio record.

Accept’s current lineup continues to center on Hoffmann and vocalist Mark Tornillo. The band also remains active on the live circuit in 2026. The group’s recent activity includes touring. They also continue to work through their modern-era catalog alongside anniversary material.

The anniversary project fits a broader trend in Accept’s history. The band has often revisited its classic material while moving forward with new collaborators. This makes Dirkschneider’s absence notable. However, it is not entirely surprising given the long separation between the singer and his former band.
