Amon Amarth played Zeche Carl in Essen on 6 October 2026, a sold-out release show for their new album, The Allfather Awakens. The club holds roughly 500 people, making it a rare club-scale night for a band used to far bigger rooms.
The date came just four days after the album landed. Amon Amarth normally work arena and festival stages, so Essen was set up as an intimate launch rather than a routine tour stop.
The set ran twelve songs, mixing new material with established live staples. “Gjallarhorn,” “The Allfather Awakes” and “Eight Legs of Thunder” all got their first airing in front of an audience, with “Death in Fire,” “Raise Your Horns” and “Twilight of the Thunder God” holding down the older end of the show.
Tickets were capped at 500 and sold only as CD or vinyl bundles through the band’s store. That filled the room with people who had already bought into the record before hearing a note of it live, and the mood followed from there.
Reporting on the mix and staging is thin, and no clear picture of the production comes through. What the night does show is a band willing to cut the spectacle back and let new songs carry a small room.
After the show the band stayed on for a signing session, working through a queue short enough to feel like a meet-and-greet rather than a promotional obligation.
