Bruce Dickinson has discussed his upcoming solo album and revealed that the first single’s video will explore themes of truth-telling and honest communication, told on Radio Futuro. The Iron Maiden singer hinted that the video’s content may provoke a response from the Catholic church.

Dickinson spoke about the visual component of his new music and what audiences can expect from it. The video will arrive soon after the single’s release.

“People will hear it — the first single is out in, like, 10 days or something,” Dickinson said. “We’ll drop the video, and the videos are extraordinary.”

He then addressed the potential controversy surrounding the video’s message and imagery.

“If you thought that you’re gonna have problems with the Catholic church, they might have a problem with this video, because it’s… But anyway, never mind. We’ll see.”

The central message of the video concerns honest speech and genuine communication. “But the video’s about truth,” Dickinson said. “Telling the truth — simple as that. Speaking in tongues. Everybody’s talking, but nobody’s listening. Everybody’s talking, but nobody’s telling the truth. Everybody from bloggers, social media influencers, politicians. Will somebody please be able to tell the truth? And then people will listen.”

Dickinson’s solo album is due in early 2027 through BMG. The remarks were made during his discussion of the project and its accompanying visual material.

Dickinson returned to solo recording after a long absence from the format. His previous solo album, Tyranny of Souls, came out in 2005, making the new record his first in over two decades. The Mandrake Project, released on 1 March 2024, bridged that gap, with Dickinson reviving the work during the COVID-19 pandemic after setting it aside for seven years while he underwent cancer treatment and toured with Iron Maiden.

The upcoming album was recorded in January and February of 2026 at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles with producer Brendan Duffey, who also produced The Mandrake Project. Dickinson worked with his touring band, which includes keyboardist Mistheria, drummer Dave Moreno, bassist Tanya O’Callaghan, and guitarists Chris Declercq and Philip Näslund. The band recorded 18 songs over three weeks of work, averaging 12 hours a day. Andreas Kisser, guitarist for Sepultura, plays percussion on the new LP.

The album features a collaboration with Dickinson’s son Austin, a musician best known as the former frontman for the metal bands Rise to Remain and As Lions. Bill Moseley, a horror film legend, appears in one of the music videos for the upcoming album, with the clip filmed in Nevada with director Leo Liberti, who previously worked with Bruce on the “Change Of Heart” and “Tears Of The Dragon” videos.

Dickinson announced the 2027 PsychoGod tour in October 2026, with 31 dates kicking off on June 14 in Belfast and concluding on December 10 in Paris. The tour will feature new material alongside fan favorites and deep cuts from throughout his career. The November and December leg will feature support from Swedish progressive metal band Evergrey.
