Disturbed frontman David Draiman has expressed his admiration for Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler’s vocal performance during the band’s comeback shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, posting on X.

The Hollywood Bowl shows featured guest appearances from Guns N’ Roses, The Black Crowes, Billy Idol, Tom Morello, Sammy Hagar and more. The performances marked Aerosmith’s return after taking a break related to Tyler’s vocal concerns.

“It just needs to be said… Steven Tyler is one of the best to ever do it. Period,” Draiman wrote. He continued with his reaction to the band’s performance: “Blown away by these Hollywood Bowl clips I’ve seen. Bravo my brother. The Pheonix rises from the ashes…AGAIN.”

Draiman’s comments came during Aerosmith’s comeback at the Hollywood Bowl, which saw the classic rock band return to the stage with support from a lineup of notable artists.

Steven Tyler’s vocal recovery came after he fractured his larynx in September 2023 during the band’s Peace Out farewell tour. The tour was suspended after three shows due to the injury, and the band announced their retirement from touring in August 2024 after Tyler was unable to recover. In April 2026, guitarist Joe Perry told Billboard that Tyler had only recently become confident in his vocals again, saying “It’s just been in the last six months that Steven’s started to get comfortable with singing.” Perry said Tyler’s voice is “pretty much” there.

Aerosmith returned to perform together for California, Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends, a two-night concert celebration at the Hollywood Bowl on October 29 and November 1, 2026. At 78 years old, Tyler demonstrated strong vocal and physical form during the shows, even hopping on top of a piano during one song. His singing was described as “sounding strong” by observers, an assessment that carried particular significance following the vocal injury that had interrupted the band’s farewell tour nearly three years earlier.

The Hollywood Bowl performances marked the band’s first shows in nearly three years and represented a significant milestone in Tyler’s recovery from his vocal injury.
