Dirkschneider, fronted by ex-Accept singer Udo Dirkschneider, announced that ex-Accept and current Dirkschneider bassist Peter Baltes has been hospitalized after suffering three rib fractures due to a serious fall from the stage during the band’s July 25 concert at Pyraser Classic Rock Night in Germany.

The band released an official statement detailing the incident: “During our performance at the Pyraser Classic Rock Night, Peter Baltes and U.D.O. and Dirkschneider guitarist Alen Brentini suffered serious falls due to insufficient safety conditions on stage. Alen suffered several severe contusions and other injuries. Fortunately, despite this, he is in a condition to continue performing. Peter suffered three rib fractures and is being treated at a hospital in Nuremberg. He is likely not to be able to perform for a longer period. Our thoughts are with him, and we wish a speedy and complete recovery.”

The incident occurred during the band’s performance at the Pyraser Classic Rock Night 2026 on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Pyras brewery estate in Thalmässing, Germany. The dangerous conditions on stage resulted in multiple band members being injured. Baltes fell into a hole on stage during the performance, forcing the band to stop the show to attend to his medical emergency.

Peter Baltes’ injury marks a significant setback for the legendary bassist, who has been a cornerstone of the heavy metal scene for decades. His three fractured ribs will require an extended recovery period, keeping him sidelined from performances for an indefinite duration. The hospitalization in Nuremberg underscores the seriousness of the incident and the physical toll it has taken on the musician.

Guitarist Alen Brentini also fell during the same performance and sustained multiple severe contusions and injuries. He managed to recover enough to continue with the band’s scheduled performances. His ability to push through despite his injuries contrasts with Baltes’ more serious condition, highlighting the varying degrees of impact the stage hazards had on different band members.

Despite these difficult circumstances, Dirkschneider announced that the band will continue to perform all scheduled shows as planned. The band’s commitment to fulfilling their tour obligations demonstrates their resilience in the face of adversity, though the absence of their bassist will undoubtedly impact future performances. The band stated: “We will release more information as soon as it is available. Thank you very much for the support and for all the messages of well-being sent to Peter and Alen.”
