Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser has suggested that a reunion for the legendary Brazilian metal band is far from ruled out. This comes even as they continue their ongoing farewell tour. In recent comments, Kisser emphasized that the band is simply taking a much-needed rest rather than permanently closing the door on future performances.
“Dude, I don’t rule anything out. It’s irrelevant to say if [the retirement is] gonna be forever or we gonna be back,” Kisser stated. “The important thing is that we’re gonna stop now. We need that rest, because we organize everything around that. We need our time — we need time to look in a different direction.”
The guitarist drew parallels to other legendary bands who have announced farewells only to return. He noted that Sepultura’s legacy will endure regardless of their current touring status. “Sepultura is not gonna die. I mean, Motörhead is more alive than… Unfortunately, we don’t have the touring, but Motörhead will be together with us forever. So we’re gonna explore different territories and stuff,” Kisser explained.
When asked about the possibility of future reunion shows, Kisser remained optimistic and philosophical. “And the future, we’re gonna deal [with it] when it comes. I mean, possibilities are always open. I don’t think we have the power to do eight farewell tours, but who knows? [Laughs] I mean, you see [other bands who announced farewell tours before and then came back or kept touring, like] Scorpions, you see Ozzy [Osbourne], you see KISS and Mötley Crüe and Slayer and stuff.”
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of taking time away from the relentless touring schedule. “It’s okay to rest and to go out a little bit. It’s very healthy, because it shows that art is not really connected to any stereotype of what you should be in the eyes of others.”
Kisser’s comments come as Sepultura continues their “Celebrating Life Through Death” farewell tour. The tour has been extended well beyond its original 2024 endpoint. According to Wikimetal, the band initially planned to conclude their activities in 2024. However, Andreas Kisser revealed in interviews that the farewell tour will continue through 2026. The tour kicked off on March 1, 2024, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. It has become one of the most extensive farewell campaigns in metal history.
The extended timeline reflects the band’s commitment to giving fans around the world a final opportunity to witness their legendary performances. Sepultura is ensuring that their 40-year legacy is properly celebrated before they step away from touring. With dates scheduled across multiple continents, the band will reach audiences globally.
Exclaim! reported that Sepultura has scheduled their final North American leg of the farewell tour. The North American run begins on April 29, 2026, in Montclair, New Jersey. It concludes on May 29 in Los Angeles, California. The tour will feature support from Exodus, Biohazard, and Tribal Gaze. Additional Canadian dates are scheduled in Montreal and London, Ontario.
