Dee Snider recently discussed the shelved post-Twisted Sister project Desperado and its lost album ‘Ace’. The singer reflected on the years of effort he poured into the record. He also discussed the unfortunate fate of the master recordings.

“The really sad thing is that Desperado is some of the best work I ever did,” Snider said. “Singing, songwriting. I dedicated 3 years and a fortune to that project. Elektra records shelved it for more than three decades. It’s available on some Indie labels now but the moment has passed (and two of my band members are gone. RIP Bernie Torme and Clive Burr).”

“For those of you playing along at home it has been licensed by two indie labels,” he continued. “Angelfire is one. I don’t control the masters. I own the copyrights. I don’t own the master recordings…but I’m not recording it again. Two of my band are dead. It’s over.”

“No idea where they (the master recordings) are,” Snider added. “I know that some labels have cleaned out their warehouses and literally thrown old masters away. I love the interest and enthusiasm, but at this point it’s ‘back to the future’ for me. I suffered for years over the loss of that album. I had to let it go.”

Desperado was formed in 1988 following Twisted Sister’s disbandment. The album ‘Ace’ was originally recorded in 2006. The fate of the original master tapes remains unknown.
