“Now we’re just focusing on new music,” Loomis stated. “We’re gonna spend much of May, June, and July putting the new record together. We’re hoping by the first quarter of ’27 we’ll have new music done and ready for people to hear—if not a full album, then at least a new single. That’s what we’re working on right now.”

The guitarist also introduced the band’s new lineup. It features fresh talent alongside core members Loomis and drummer Van Williams. “We’re very fortunate to have Berzan Önen on vocals, Semir Özerkan on bass, and Jack Cattoi on guitar. These are our three new members. Of course, it’s still me and Van—me on guitar and Van on drums.”

The band recently celebrated their return with a successful comeback performance. “We just had our first show a few days ago in Istanbul, and it went really well. The crowd was phenomenal. They sang along to all the songs and really made us feel welcome. Now we’re coming down to South America to do more shows. We’re really excited about what’s ahead.”

The Istanbul performance marked a significant milestone for the metal community. The Metal List reported that the band’s reunion represents their first live performance since the tragic passing of original vocalist Warrel Dane in 2017. The show took place on April 1, 2026, at IF Performance Hall Beşiktaş in Istanbul. An enthusiastic crowd embraced the band’s return with open arms.

This comeback has reignited hope among longtime fans who thought they might never hear new Nevermore material again. The significance of this reunion cannot be overstated for the progressive metal community. The Metal List noted that this marks the band’s first new album since 2010’s The Obsidian Conspiracy. The upcoming release represents a major event for metal fans worldwide. The band’s ability to move forward with a new vocalist while maintaining their identity speaks to the enduring legacy of Nevermore’s music.

One of the primary concerns for fans has been whether the new lineup could capture the essence of Nevermore’s distinctive sound. Blabbermouth reported that Loomis has assured fans the band’s core identity will remain intact despite the lineup changes. The guitarist emphasized that “the core of the NEVERMORE sound is not ever really going to go away. It’ll still have the same core elements as it did back in the day, but it’ll be new and interesting with a new vibe.”

This commitment to preserving Nevermore’s musical DNA while introducing fresh perspectives suggests the upcoming album will honor the band’s legacy. It will also push forward creatively. The balance between honoring the past and embracing new possibilities appears to be central to the band’s vision for this new chapter.
