Korn has finished recording its new album, according to Ray Luzier’s drum tech, Mark Bennett, who shared the update during a chat with Drumeo.

Bennett discussed the specific snare drum used during the sessions for the band’s upcoming fifteenth studio album. He highlighted the instrument’s features and explained how it was positioned in Luzier’s drum setup.

“This is what we just finished recording the new record with,” Bennett said. “And it’s the Pearl Copper Free floater. They discontinued this drum. They can’t get it anymore. So, thankfully, we have five of them.”

“Super lightweight, actually,” he continued. “It’s the copper. It’s the thin copper shells. Really nice attack. Look at the inside. It’s like a little darker version of brass. Love this drum. Absolutely love this snare. You can find them like on eBay because if you find one and the hardware is damaged or whatever, you can just pull the shell out. You can order new hardware for it and drop it in. Great snare. I love working with this drum. So it sits in real tight between the rack toms. He likes having the same spacing top and bottom, and then this snare pushes all the way up, almost touching. We’re getting there.”

The update confirms that Korn’s new album has reached a significant stage, although the band has not yet announced its title or release date.

The upcoming record will follow Requiem, which marked Korn’s fourteenth studio album. Requiem was released on February 4, 2022, through Loma Vista Recordings, and reached No. 14 on the Billboard 200.

Requiem included the singles “Start the Healing,” “Forgotten,” and “Lost in the Grandeur.” The album remains Korn’s most recent full-ray length studio release and provides the latest point of comparison for the band’s next chapter.

Korn also released “Reward The Scars” earlier this year as part of downloadable content for Diablo IV. The song marked the band’s latest new music before the recording update.

Korn has been teasing major progress on the new album. However, the band has not yet confirmed a first single, album title, producer, or release date.

The latest reports suggest that the album could arrive during the next phase of Korn’s current activity, but the band has not officially announced its release plans. For now, Bennett’s comments confirm that the group has completed at least the recording work connected to Luzier’s drum parts.
