Mötley Crüe has announced their 3-song EP titled ‘Canceled,’ and it includes a cover of Beastie Boys’ ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!).’ Since the announcement, they have been receiving backlash for ‘ruining’ their career. Nikki Sixx took the matter into his hands and named the covers the band has been playing on social media. He also revealed that the band might be releasing another cover too.

“We’ve been playing ‘Fight For Your Right’ live for a year or so. We’ve always loved playing songs we either grew up on or really liked… Sometimes we record them,” the rocker revealed. “Thinking back here’s a few. Raspberries- ‘Tonight,’ Beatles- ‘Helter Skelter,’ Elvis- ‘Jailhouse Rock,’ Pistols- ‘Anarchy In The UK,’ Stones- ‘Street Fighting Man,’ Tommy Bolin- ‘Teaser,’ The Tubes- ‘White Punks On Dope,’ Brownsville Station- ‘Smoking In The Boys Room,’ Madonna- ‘Like A Virgin,’ Alice Cooper- ‘Department Of Youth.'”

He added: “There’s a long list of other ones too that we sometimes play in a medley live or play only a few times but it changes all the time… Looking forward to the video for ‘Fight For Your Right.’ Until then, what’s been your favorite?”

Other than some fans and haters, a music journalist also criticized the band. “Mötley Crüe just need to stop now instead of completely destroying their legacy,” Lindsay C. from This Day In Metal wrote on X. “Agreed! I’m a fan, but they definitely need to stop,” a fan added.

The band first performed their cover of ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)’ at a secret show at the Underworld in London on June 30, 2023.

The new EP is set to drop on October 4.
