Pantera recently announced that they will not be performing at the Aftershock festival set for October 5-8 at Discovery Park due to reasons described as ‘circumstances beyond their control.’
In a statement released via social media, Pantera expressed their regret over missing the festival. According to the update, fans will have to wait a little longer to see them in action at the event, though they won’t be left disappointed for long:
“Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will be unable to perform at this year’s edition of Aftershock next month. This event is monumental, and it pains us to have to miss it. We will, however, be back for Aftershock 2024! A sincere thank you to Danny Wimmer Presents, as well as all the fans around the globe who’ve supported the 2023 Pantera celebration. We will see you all at Louder Than Life this weekend and Aftershock next year!”
Stone Temple Pilots will step up to fill Pantera’s slot at the festival. Moreover, attendees can also expect to see a performance from Imperial Tide.
This year, almost 100 bands are slated to perform at Aftershock, including Guns N’ Roses, Tool, Korn, and Megadeth, among others.
Pantera’s lineup, which includes two original members, Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown, has been enhanced by the talents of Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante. The band embarked on a U.S. tour with Lamb of God in July, with plans to headline other global festivals and support Metallica in a North American tour over the next two years.
