Bleed from Within is a Scottish metalcore band from Glasgow, formed in 2005. The band’s current lineup consists of lead vocalist Scott Kennedy, drummer Ali Richardson, bassist Davie Provan, lead guitarist Craig Gowans, and rhythm guitarist and clean vocalist Steven Jones.

Bleed from Within came together in the Scottish metal scene in 2005, when most of the members were still teenagers, according to Metalverse Forum. They started out playing local gigs and quickly earned a reputation for their energetic performances. Early on, they supported big names like Job For A Cowboy and The Black Dahlia Murder, which helped grow their fanbase.

2. Seven Studio Albums And Three EPs

As of 2025, the band has released seven studio albums and three EPs, as reported by Discogs. Their discography shows clear growth in both sound and production, with albums like ‘Uprising’ (2013), ‘Era’ (2018), and ‘Shrine’ (2022) marking key stages in their evolution. Their latest release, ‘Zenith’ (2025), has been praised for balancing technical riffs with melodic hooks and showcasing how the band continues to push boundaries while staying true to their core.

3. Lineup Changes And Stability

Although the band has gone through a few lineup shifts—most notably the departure of founding guitarist Martyn Evans—they’ve maintained a stable core, as Audilous reports. Vocalist Scott Kennedy, drummer Ali Richardson, and guitarist Craig Gowans have been with the group since the early years, providing a strong backbone. The addition of Steven Jones as rhythm guitarist and clean vocalist in 2017 brought a new dynamic, especially in their live shows and recent recordings.

4. Evolution Of Musical Style

Bleed from Within’s early music leaned more toward deathcore, especially on their 2009 debut ‘Humanity.’ Over time, they began blending groove metal and metalcore, with influences from bands like Lamb of God, Pantera, and Killswitch Engage, via Metal Hammer. Their more recent work features melodic leads, anthemic choruses, and complex drum patterns—all without losing their heavy edge. This evolution has helped them stay relevant in a fast-changing metal landscape.

5. Notable Collaborations And Covers

In 2011, the band recorded a cover of Slipknot’s ‘People = Shit’ as a tribute to late bassist Paul Gray, showcasing both their respect for the genre’s legends and their ability to reinterpret iconic songs, Metal Archives notes. They’ve also played alongside acts like Megadeth, Testament, and Gojira, proving their ability to hold their own across metal subgenres. These collaborations and tributes have helped them gain respect beyond just the metalcore scene.

6. Critical Acclaim And Recognition

Bleed from Within has steadily gained recognition for both their studio work and live performances. Albums like ‘Fracture’ (2020) and ‘Shrine’ (2022) received positive reviews for their songwriting and production quality. Kerrang! reports that ‘Zenith’ (2025) has further cemented their place in modern metal, with critics praising its balance of brutality and melody. Despite not always getting mainstream attention, the band has built a loyal global fanbase and shows no signs of slowing down.
