Jane’s Addiction and frontman Perry Farrell have officially settled their ongoing legal dispute, bringing a definitive end to the legendary band, according to People Magazine.

The agreement was reached just one week after the group announced its permanent breakup, effectively closing the door on months of legal conflict between the band members. “The members of Jane’s Addiction have reached a settlement following the ongoing legal battles between bandmates Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, Stephen Perkins and Perry Farrell,” People Magazine reported.

The settlement was finalized through the court system earlier this week. “On Monday, Dec. 22, the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, dismissed Perry Farrell and fellow band members Navarro, Avery and Perkins’ lawsuits, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE,” the report continued. “The decision comes one week after the band announced they were splitting up, and Farrell, 66, apologized to his bandmates and their fans.”

With the legal matters resolved, both the lawsuits and the band’s decades-long run have officially come to an end. Jane’s Addiction’s breakup traces back to a highly publicized onstage altercation during their 2024 reunion tour, which marked the first time in 14 years that all four original members had performed together.

The A.V. Club reported that the tour was abruptly canceled in the wake of the incident. Plans for a long-anticipated reunion album were also shelved, cutting short what had been expected to be a celebratory comeback for the alternative rock pioneers.

The legal fallout from the confrontation included allegations of assault and battery. AOL confirmed that guitarist Dave Navarro accused Farrell of those charges, underscoring how tensions within the band had escalated after decades of working together.

Farrell later issued a public apology, addressing his role in the dispute. He admitted to “losing my temper” and “disrupting” the band’s shows. That acknowledgment became part of the broader resolution that ultimately led to both the settlement and the band’s permanent dissolution.

The breakup of Jane’s Addiction marks the end of one of alternative rock’s most influential groups. Spanning several decades, the band played a key role in shaping the genre’s sound in the 1990s. Their final chapter, defined by legal battles and internal conflict, brings a conclusive close to their storied legacy.
