Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider recently shared why he is happy that Sebastian Bach replaced him for the band’s ongoing comeback shows, following Snider’s decision to step down due to health issues. The exchange and reactions were shared on X.

Snider explained that Bach’s performance works well because of the respect and appreciation he shows for the band’s legacy, rather than trying to perfectly replicate Snider’s original vocal style.

Dee Snider: “It’s not a Sebastian Bach sounds like me or perfectly copies me. It’s the open love and respect he shows for me, the songs I’ve written and Twisted Sister.”

Bach responded: “I’ve always been a fan and proud to call you my friend. Whole new appreciation for the lyrics and melody lines which I completely love singing. Thank you for a lifetime of inspiration Dee Snider.”

The exchange highlights a transition that had been building for months, as Twisted Sister reshaped its long-awaited return around a new voice while keeping its original songbook intact.

Snider stepped away from the reunion because of health issues, including degenerative arthritis, multiple surgeries, and concerns about the strain decades of high-intensity performing had placed on his body. Snider resigned from the group on February 5, citing degenerative arthritis as the reason for his exit.

The band moved quickly to keep its plans alive. Twisted Sister announced that Bach would front a handful of select 2026 dates after Snider’s abrupt exit, with guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda confirming the news.

The change also altered a plan that had originally centered on the band’s 50th anniversary. Twisted Sister had announced a 2026 comeback 10 years after its road retirement, but later dropped those plans before returning with Bach on vocals.

The newly arranged run includes dates in Palmer, Alaska, on Sept. 4, Durant, Oklahoma, on Sept. 12, Niagara Falls, Ontario, on Oct. 8, and Windsor, Ontario, on Oct. 10. Those shows were the first announced with Bach after Snider retired from touring on doctor’s orders. Snider said Bach was one of only two singers who could handle the role as his replacement.

Bach’s own message made clear that the respect runs both ways. “I’ve always been a fan and proud to call you my friend,” Bach said, adding that he had a “whole new appreciation for the lyrics and melody lines” and thanking Snider for “a lifetime of inspiration.”
