Page Six reported that an insider revealed details about the current condition of Steven Tyler’s vocals as the band recently announced its return to the live stage with two special shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Those concerts will mark Aerosmith’s first full shows since scrapping their farewell tour in 2024 due to Tyler’s vocal injury.
A source said the 78-year-old frontman’s vocal cords are in “great” shape as the legendary rock band gears up for two nights at the Hollywood Bowl. The insider added that Tyler is excited not only to get back on stage, but also to share it with his famous friends in the industry. The source also noted that Tyler has been taking good care of his voice since the canceled tour, including plenty of rehab and rest.
The update arrives as Aerosmith prepares to end its touring retirement, and it follows a long and difficult road back for both Tyler and the band. The comeback is the result of a slow recovery that began after the group was forced off the road more than three years ago.
Aerosmith first announced the “Peace Out” farewell tour in May 2023, but the run was halted after only three shows when Tyler fractured his larynx during a Sept. 9, 2023 concert at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. The band postponed the remaining dates, and the injury ultimately proved serious enough to change its plans entirely.
In August 2024, the group announced its retirement from touring, saying a full recovery was not possible. “Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible,” the band said at the time.
Since then, Tyler has kept working on his voice and has been able to sing again in limited settings. That included a July 2025 appearance at the Black Sabbath farewell concert in Birmingham, England. Guitarist Joe Perry told reporters in April that the band was not yet in touring mode and that Tyler had only recently become comfortable singing again, the outlet reported.
The two Hollywood Bowl dates are set for Oct. 29 and Nov. 1, 2026 under the banner “California, Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends.” The shows are billed as a celebration of the band’s legacy and its first full concerts since the farewell tour was called off. The lineup of guests includes The Black Crowes, Run-DMC, Heart, Billy Idol, Slash and Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, Chad Smith, Jerry Cantrell, Sammy Hagar and Tom Morello.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Oct. 10 via Ticketmaster, with a Citi cardmember presale beginning Oct. 8.The Bowl run also stands out as one of Aerosmith’s biggest Los Angeles appearances in years, reconnecting the group with a city central to its long career.
The insider’s claim about Tyler’s voice now gives fans their clearest signal yet that the band is ready for the stage again — and that the singer is treating the Hollywood Bowl nights as a celebration rather than just a return to work.
