Metallica has confirmed that Limp Bizkit and Avatar will join them as openers for their 2027 North American run, according to an announcement shared on Instagram. The band announced 12 new North American stadium dates that extend their massive ‘M72’ world tour into 2027.
The announcement detailed the upcoming tour dates and ticket sale information.
“The M72 World Tour is making its way across North America with 12 shows in 2027, featuring our returning tour buddies Limp Bizkit and Avatar,” Metallica said. “Tickets go on sale Friday, September 25. Fan Club Presales begin Monday, September 21.”
This extension continues the band’s extensive global touring schedule and brings back familiar support acts for the next chapter of the tour.
The M72 World Tour began in April 2023 and was built around Metallica’s “No Repeat Weekend” concept, with two-night stops in each city featuring different setlists and different opening acts. The tour launched as a 22-city global run with two-night stands in each city and separate setlists for each show.
The M72 tour had grossed $476 million on 64 shows and drawn 3.9 million fans by August 2025. The tour has expanded across multiple legs and helped produce several major attendance marks, including record-setting stadium crowds in key markets.
Limp Bizkit and Avatar are not new to the production. According to Louder Sound, Avatar previously supported Metallica on the European leg of the tour earlier in 2026, while Limp Bizkit had already joined the North American dates on the same tour cycle.
The newly announced 2027 North American run is built around single stadium shows rather than the tour’s usual two-night format. The trek begins May 8 in Vancouver at BC Place and includes stops at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, the Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, the Alamodome in San Antonio, Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland and Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.
The 12-date run continues a tour that has become one of Metallica’s most significant live projects in years. The “No Repeat Weekend” format was designed to give fans two completely different shows in each city, and that concept has been central to the tour’s identity since 2023.
