Baltes left the Wolf Hoffman-led act a few years ago and has been vocal about his departure ever since, often saying he had to quit as he was ‘extremely unhappy.’

So, when Metal Globe asked about his decision to quit once again, the bassist said:

“Everybody knows now. I did a lot of interviews, and I really don’t wanna talk about it anymore, but, basically, we used to go up as a band, as friends and stuff, and then these things change business-wise and music-wise. And then it always seems that somebody wants all the influence. Once you’re not involved anymore in the decision-making, what’s the point? I’m not interested in that. So I left.”

He then discussed why he was happier in UDO and how the band was better than Accept, where he spent three decades:

“It’s a unique situation, because here, in this band, I’m very much respected. It’s really nice. They’re very respectful. There’s no egos. That’s very new for me. There’s no egos in this [band]. Udo [Dirkschneider] doesn’t care. He’s 71 years old. He’s just happy to sing.”

The rocker further continued, discussing Dirkschneider’s ‘egoless’ approach:

“That’s a good foundation for a band, because he [Dirkschneider] supports all the young players in the band, and it’s really relaxed… The music is the number one issue in the band; it’s not the business that much. So that just runs automatically. And for me, joining the band was really for my own happiness. I wanna play I wanna make people happy. I like playing my bass.”
