Richie Sambora Reveals the Only Condition for Jon Bon Jovi to Return to the Stage

In a recent episode of Howie Mandel Does Stuff, Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora shared the only condition for Jon Bon Jovi to get back on stage.

When the conversation turned to Bon Jovi’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction, the host asked Sambora if that was the only time he and Jon played together before he left the band. “Yes and no. Publicly. Yes, publicly,” the rocker replied.

The host then asked if Jon had been singing. “He’s having a little problem,” Sambora answered.

The host also referenced a previous interview where Sambora mentioned he would be open to a reunion if Jon’s voice improved. “I would have to do it. My spirit would feel [good],” he added.

It has been two years since Jon underwent vocal surgery, and while he is still healing, it seems unlikely that he will be touring anytime soon. The frontman confirmed he wouldn’t be able to tour for the album, ‘Forever.’

A few months ago, Jon recalled his first attempt to sing after the surgery. “It was hard because you speak and you say, ‘Okay, I sound like me.’ When you hear yourself back through the speakers that’s when you hear yourself for the first and I didn’t sound like me,” he explained.

He added, “Like I said that was 15-16 months ago. So that threw me for a loop and by the time I got around to making the record it was all good but the initial reaction was a shock because of the change. So you have to get over that and the healing wasn’t done yet.”

The singer believes he isn’t quite ready to sing at his full potential, but he hopes to reach that point. “It’s a work in progress,” he shared with The Guardian. “There’s no miracle. I just wish there was a f*cking light switch. I’m more than capable of singing again. The bar is now: can I do two and a half hours a night, four nights a week? The answer is no.”

He also mentioned he has been undergoing special therapy sessions for his voice and that he has done everything he can to improve it.
