Linkin Park’s Emily Armstrong and Mike Shinoda recently spoke with KROQ about the band’s new album, ‘From Zero.’
During the interview, Armstrong admitted that she’s been trying hard not to mess up the band.
“There’s a lot of firsts for me obviously and Colin [Brittain]. It’s everything I’ve wanted, that’s another thing too. It’s like working so hard to get to a place and then this is just how it all laid out for me and us. It couldn’t be more perfect,” she said.
Armstrong also shared that ‘One Step Closer’ was the first song that made her want to scream when she was a child.
“Sure, I mean, what I’m taking from that is being a fan of the band. That’s the anchor really and I love what they do. The fact that I get to be a part of it is still crazy and [I] try to not ruin anything,” the singer added.
Armstrong joined Linkin Park in September this year, and they released their first album together in seven years. In a previous interview, Shinoda mentioned that the band’s dynamic with Armstrong and new drummer Colin Brittain was so good that they were concerned former member Brad Delson might disrupt it.
“We have concerns. Our dynamic that we’ve been working with – the three of us, and Emily and Collin is so good, and adding anybody at all might change that. Just come in and see it, and I think you’ll like it.’ And he did, and he gave it a chance. And one of the first things he was saying was ‘I think we could write something heavier, like way heavier,'” Shinoda explained.
In other news, Linkin Park has announced new tour dates for 2025. The tour will feature special guests like Queens of the Stone Age, Architects, AFI, Spiritbox, Grandson, Jean Dawson, and Pvris on select dates. The tour starts on January 31 in Mexico City at Estadio GNP Seguros and will end on November 15 in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
