Astile Doherty is the son of Pete Doherty and the half-brother of Liam Gallagher’s daughter, Molly Moorish. His family ties link two of the most influential figures in 2000s British rock — The Libertines and Oasis. Despite his family background, Astile largely stayed out of the spotlight.

Astile Doherty’s Family Background

Source: thelibs-daily.livejournal.com

Astile was born in 2003 to Lisa Moorish and Pete Doherty. His mother, a singer-songwriter, was previously involved with Liam Gallagher. The two had a daughter named Molly Moorish in 1998. This makes Astile and Molly half-siblings, though their fathers never shared a close relationship. In 2018, Molly publicly reconnected with Liam Gallagher, and the two formed a bond after years of estrangement.

As for Liam Gallagher and Pete Doherty’s relationship, it’s complicated. Liam recalled his only meeting with Pete Doherty in 2017: “I’ve only met him once, but that was years ago at the Forum when he was with… what are they called.. f*cking, Libertines. It was just ‘Hello, you’re really tall and that.’ He looked like my mic stand.”

Pete Doherty had a tumultuous past: he was struggling with substance abuse during much of his career. But he remained involved in Astile’s life, as Lisa Moorish confirmed in past interviews. According to Twenty Four Bit, Doherty actively tried to be present for his son despite his own challenges.

In contrast, Liam Gallagher’s relationship with his daughter Molly Moorish was strained for years. Gallagher admitted in a 2018 interview that he hadn’t met Molly properly until she was an adult.

A source told the Daily Star about Liam’s commitment to family responsibilities: “Liam respects Pete as a musician and a rock n roll icon, but he is losing his temper with him as far as the kids are concerned. Liam is fond of the boy as he is Molly’s brother and can’t imagine treating his two lads the same way. He thinks Pete should grow up and has vowed to make him sort it out. Liam is a great believer in looking after family.”

The same source claims Gallagher pays approximately £2000 monthly for Molly’s support.

Astile Doherty’s Future Projects

According to Daily Mail, Astile started a career as a musician — but in an ironic twist, he performed as a Liam Gallagher tribute act. So, Astile sang songs originally performed by his half-sister’s father. He’s passionate about acting and pursues an acting career. He also has a YouTube channel, which you can check out here.
