Former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick has cleared the air regarding his awkward guest appearance at the KISS Kruise Landlocked event. Frontman Paul Stanley’s failure to introduce him during “Lick It Up” was a result of genuine on-stage confusion and adrenaline rather than a malicious snub. During the performance, Kulick was supposed to come out for “Lick It Up,” the final song of the set. Paul counted off and started the song without remembering that Bruce was going to sit in. Though Stanley was aware of the plan, he almost didn’t even perform the song. Tommy Thayer gave Kulick the big thumbs up and waved him out on stage. By the time the solo came around, Kulick got to be featured as intended. Gene Simmons also ran over and screamed out Bruce’s name to ensure proper recognition.
Kulick reflected on the moment with understanding, noting that Paul was caught up in the energy of the performance. “I know Paul was caught up in the moment,” Kulick explained. “Paul was genuinely feeling bad that it didn’t happen, and it gave me a lot of press that way, but still, it was a real thrill.
