Former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick has cleared the air regarding his awkward guest appearance at the KISS Kruise Landlocked event. Frontman Paul Stanley’s failure to introduce him during “Lick It Up” was a result of genuine on-stage confusion and adrenaline rather than a malicious snub. Stanley later corrected the mistake with a heartfelt public apology.

During the performance, Kulick was supposed to come out for “Lick It Up,” the final song of the set. Paul counted off and started the song without remembering that Bruce was going to sit in. Though Stanley was aware of the plan, he almost didn’t even perform the song. Tommy Thayer gave Kulick the big thumbs up and waved him out on stage. By the time the solo came around, Kulick got to be featured as intended. Gene Simmons also ran over and screamed out Bruce’s name to ensure proper recognition.

Kulick reflected on the moment with understanding, noting that Paul was caught up in the energy of the performance. “I know Paul was caught up in the moment,” Kulick explained. “Paul was genuinely feeling bad that it didn’t happen, and it gave me a lot of press that way, but still, it was a real thrill. I loved it.” The guitarist emphasized that Stanley’s genuine remorse and the subsequent public acknowledgment made the experience meaningful rather than damaging.

The incident occurred during the KISS Kruise Vegas 2025 event held in November at The Theater at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas. Stanley’s oversight during the performance sparked immediate conversation among fans and media outlets covering the show. The high-energy environment and the excitement of the moment created the perfect storm for the mix-up. Stanley later admitted he was surprised when Kulick appeared on stage and momentarily forgot to give him proper credit.

Stanley addressed the situation directly during a Q&A session following the show and took full responsibility for the oversight. The frontman emphasized that Kulick is not just a casual guest but an integral part of KISS history. Bruce was an important member of the band whose contributions remain essential to the group’s legacy, even decades after his official touring tenure ended. This public acknowledgment reinforced the deep connection that still exists between the band members and highlighted Kulick’s enduring significance to KISS.

The apology resonated with Kulick, who described the entire KISS Kruise experience as magical. For Kulick, the opportunity to perform with his former bandmates held special significance, as he hadn’t been on stage with them in years. The reunion brought together performers and fans for a weekend celebrating the band’s impact on rock history. The setlist spanned decades of KISS classics. Despite the initial awkwardness, the event ultimately became a testament to the lasting bonds formed during Kulick’s years as a crucial member of one of rock’s most iconic bands.
