TEDxFargo has announced a historic moment for rock music fans. David Lee Roth will join legendary drummer Alex Van Halen and renowned contemporary artist Robert Vargas for a special conversation at TEDxFargo CHARGE this Thursday, July 30, in Fargo, North Dakota. This marks the first time the former Van Halen bandmates will share the stage together since the band’s final concert in October 2015 at the Hollywood Bowl.

TEDxFargo’s announcement read, “Three icons. One stage. One conversation you won’t want to miss. Just added, this Thursday, at TEDxFargo CHARGE, singer David Lee Roth will join legendary drummer Alex Van Halen and renowned contemporary artist Robert Vargas for a special TEDxFargo talk!”

The announcement comes at a particularly notable time in Roth’s career. After more than five years away from live performing, the 71-year-old singer returned to touring in 2025. He launched his “Don’t Love Me, Rent Me” Worldwide Tour in April 2026, originally scheduled as a 27-date run through August. However, the tour has faced significant setbacks in recent weeks. Nearly all remaining dates have been canceled as of late July, leaving only one show scheduled for August at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.

The TEDxFargo appearance represents a unique format compared to Roth’s typical concert performances. Rather than a musical performance or traditional concert setting, the three participants are expected to engage in a conversation and discussion on stage. This talk-based format provides an intimate setting for fans to hear from both Roth and Van Halen in a more personal, dialogue-driven context than a standard rock show would offer.

The timing of this reunion carries additional significance given the recent developments in Roth’s touring schedule. The cancellation of multiple tour dates had raised questions about his immediate future in live performance. The TEDxFargo appearance stands as one of his few confirmed public engagements for the remainder of 2026. The event has drawn considerable attention from Van Halen enthusiasts and rock music fans worldwide, who view it as a rare opportunity to witness the two former bandmates together after more than a decade of separation.

The inclusion of contemporary artist Robert Vargas alongside Roth and Van Halen adds an unexpected creative dimension to the event. The conversation may explore broader themes beyond the band’s legacy. The three-way dialogue promises to be a memorable moment for attendees at the CHARGE event, offering insights that extend beyond typical reunion announcements or nostalgia-driven appearances.
