“Following a recent injury, Joan Jett has undergone orthopedic surgery on a fractured vertebrae and will begin the necessary healing process. In close consultation with her doctors, Joan will not be able to perform at her forthcoming September scheduled shows in Costa Mesa, CA on September 5th and in Louisville, KY on September 24th.”

“While Joan hates to disappoint fans, she will be taking this time to focus on physical therapy and healing. She’s looking forward to delivering tremendous concerts for many years to come.”

The news was shared on Wednesday, August 5. Jett’s team confirmed the decision after consulting closely with her medical professionals. The Louisville date was set to be part of the larger Bourbon & Beyond Festival. Jett was scheduled to perform alongside other artists at the event. No other shows beyond the two September dates have been affected by the injury.

Jett has been a defining force in rock music for decades. She built her career on high-energy performances that demand physical endurance. The 67-year-old musician rose to fame as the frontwoman of Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, delivering timeless anthems like “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” and “Bad Reputation.” Her stage presence has always been a central part of her identity as a performer.

The fractured vertebrae required orthopedic surgery. This serious procedure typically involves a recovery period of several weeks to months. Physical therapy will be a crucial part of Jett’s rehabilitation process as she works toward a full recovery. Her team emphasized that the decision to cancel was made with long-term health in mind.

Fans who purchased tickets for the affected shows will receive refunds or further instructions from the respective venues. The Costa Mesa and Louisville dates were the only cancellations announced. Jett’s upcoming schedule remains otherwise intact.
