Mercyful Fate has announced their first live show in more than three years, following the band’s final performance at Brazil’s Summer Breeze festival in April 2024. The news was shared via the band’s official Instagram account on August 6.

The band announced, “España! Mercyful Fate will be playing Leyendas Del Rock Festival 2027! We will see you next August. Stay Heavy!”

The Leyendas Del Rock Festival is set to take place between August 11 and 14, 2027, in Villena, Spain. This marks the Danish heavy metal legends’ first confirmed live appearance since their 2024 performance in Brazil, ending a silence of more than three years on the live front.

The band’s last show before the hiatus took place at Summer Breeze Brasil in São Paulo in April 2024. Since then, Mercyful Fate had remained largely inactive on the touring circuit, making this announcement a notable return to the stage for the iconic outfit led by King Diamond.

The festival appearance in Spain will serve as a comeback of sorts for the band, which has built a legacy as one of the most influential acts in heavy metal history. Mercyful Fate’s blend of occult-themed lyrics and theatrical stage presence has inspired countless bands across multiple generations.

More details regarding the full lineup and ticketing for Leyendas Del Rock 2027 are expected to be announced in the coming months. The festival has become a staple of the European summer circuit, drawing metal fans from across the continent to Villena each year.

With this announcement, Mercyful Fate signals its return to the live arena, and fans across Europe are already anticipating what could be the beginning of a broader run of shows in 2027 and beyond.
