John 5’s recent Instagram post sparked rumors about a potential Marilyn Manson reunion.
The guitarist posted a birthday message along with photos and videos from Manson’s birthday celebration.
In the comments, some fans criticized John 5 for meeting Manson, while others speculated about them possibly reuniting. One fan commented, “Wooow this is nostalgic. John 5 return to marilyn mansion???”
Another fan urged, “John you belong to Manson!! PLEASE GO BACK TO HIM!!” One more wrote, “Would be amazing if you joined him on the next tour.”
However, not all reactions were positive. One person expressed, “Very disappointed John, thought you might’ve reevaluated this friendship/relationship,” while another unfollowed John 5, saying, “Never unfollowed so fast!”
John 5 joined Marilyn Manson’s band in 1999 after being invited by Manson to replace the previous guitarist. He performed with the band during the ‘Mechanical Animals’ tour and even appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards.
In an interview last year, John 5 recalled how Manson offered him the job. He shared, “Well, I had a meeting with Marilyn Manson and I was in a restaurant. It was so weird because I sat down at this restaurant and Manson had these CDs in his car, he had the David Lee Roth CD.”
He continued, “I sat down with him and he goes, ‘I want you to join the band and your name’s going to be John 5, and I want to do everything with numbers,’ and like all this stuff. So it was like a whirlwind, I didn’t even audition, and I was like, ‘Okay.'”
John 5 has also shared some stories from his time with Manson. In November 2024, during an appearance on This Is The Worst Podcast, he recounted an incident when Manson became furious with him for embarrassing him in front of girls. The two were joking around and scaring each other, and when John 5 scared Manson, the girls laughed. Manson got so angry that he broke mirrors in John’s room as payback.
